General Notice

Dear all,

All the lectures are being Video Recorded in the live classroom since 19th August. The lectures would be available on SGGS Website after editing. It may take one month (maximum) for uploading t on website.

Mondays class will always be a difficulty solving class. (Tutorial).

In case if anyone wants to send feedback about any topic not being understood, or anything as regards to the Course can write to me at yvjoshi@sggs.ac.in (SGGS students from the sggs.ac.in official email ID only others can send email to yvjoshinanded@gmail.com). I would appreciate your comments/feedback.

Class Time Table

Monday : 3.15 to 4.15PM (Problem/Difficulty solving class, students ay bring unsolved problems from any book on the Topics covered in the previous week).
Tuesday : 10 to 11.30 AM
Wednesday : 10 to 11.30AM
Friday : 10 to 11.30 AM

Please note the same and attend so as to satisfy the attendance criterion.

         a. x1(t) with itself. Given that x1(t)=A rect(t/T)
         b. u(t) with x1(t) of part (a).
2. Prove that Convolution is associative and distributive

To be completed on or before 21st August 2014.

Week 3 Assignment 4

4.1 Determine the Fourier Transform of Following functions

         1. x(t)=1/(1+t^2)
         2. x(t)=1/t

Submit the same on or before 18th August 2014 5.00PM.

Assignment 3 : Week 2 (08/08/2014)

1. Study the Electromagnetic frequency spectrum and and various bands in it.
Also get the information on Bandwidth (frequency contents) of Biomedical Signals such as ECG, EEG, EOG, EMG etc.Earthquake/Seismograph signals, Birds chirping signals (different birds), etc.

To be submitted on or before 19 August 2014

Tuesday, August 5, 2014

Assignment 2 for Week Two - To be submitted before Monday 11th August, 11 AM

Assignment for Week Two

2.1. Obtain the Fourier Series Coefficients formulae for Half wave symmetric functions. On the similar lines as that of Even and Odd symmetric functions/Waveforms.

2.2. Write a program (preferably in MATLAB) for synthesizing the Square waveform (as analyzed in the class) with T=20 ms and First 48 Odd harmonics.

2.3. Analyze the Triangular waveform (As drawn on board in the class) by using Fourier series analysis in Trigonometric and Exponential forms.

VARK analysis of TY EXTC Class

Data : 132 students filled in the VARK questionnaire distributed on 4th August in the class.
Analysis has been done by assuming 6 responses or higher in a particular choice.

Following is the result of analysis

Visual7
Aural37
Read/Write24
Kinesthetic63

This class has Kinesthetic as preferred learning style. Followed by Aural and Read write.

INITIAL Policy of teaching :

More of the DO IT YOURSELF / PRACTICE PROBLEMS/EXPERIMENTS IN THE LAB
Followed by MORE OF TAKE HOME ASSIGNMENTS
Less of TEACHING with BLACK BOARD. very few Video/demonstration sessions.

WIll be modified based on experience.

VARK questionnaire

Deal all,

I shall be circulating the VARK questionnaire to you in the class. You are expected to fill your responses and submit the same to me on or before 15th August 2014.

This questionnaire will help you identify your preferred learning style and knowing your preferred learning style may help me in deciding my teaching style.

Submission by all is a must.

Assignments 1 for the week 1

Assignments for the week 1

1.1. Conduct an experiment to know the frequency response of left and right ear alongwith its bandwidth. Equipment required : Signal Generator, Speaker. Connect the speaker to the signal generator and vary the frequencies and hear the sound (by left and right ear). Note the smallest and largest frequency that your left and right ear can hear.

1.2. Record the sound for a few seconds using SOUND RECORDER Tool of Windows. Convert the WMF file to WAV file by using utility available on the Internet. Load the wav file in MATLAB environment. Use two filters low pass and high pass as explained in the class. Use the recorded sound as input. save the output of two filters in separate (.wav) files. Listen to the two output files by using any of the sound player.

1.3. Perform the Fourier Series Analysis for Half Wave and Full Wave rectified output waveforms. Obtain the values of a0, an, and bn for both the waveforms.

This is to be completed before 4th August 2014.
